A company that charges $15,000 for an interlock driveway when comparable quotes are $22,000 to $28,000 is almost certainly saving money on what goes underneath rather than on top. Asking directly about the excavation depth, base material specification and compaction process before accepting any quote is not a minor question. What is the excavation depth and base material specification? A legitimate answer is a specific depth in inches and a specific base material such as granular A compacted to a specified density. A vague answer suggests the base preparation has not been properly specified.

What is the drainage plan? Any professionally quoted driveway project should address where surface water goes. If drainage is not mentioned, ask specifically.
